For most of us, life as we know it has changed and it’s impacted us in different ways. Some are working from home, some aren’t working, some have had to close their business while others ponder if things will ever be OK. For me, I spent months creating workshop materials, marketing and launching a leadership academy and within the first month, had to cancel all workshops due to the virus. I spent last week wallowing in disbelief – I call it sucking lemons. It’s OK to do that – you just can’t live there forever. I’m ready to start making lemonade.
Looking back, my business plan seemed solid except for the fact that I never considered the probability that everything would shut down. My ability to work with clients on-site is also being hampered as companies are switching to survival mode to weather the storm. So what’s next? It’s made me rethink my on-line presence and what I can do to leverage that opportunity. Not sure where I might land but I’m excited about it.
What about you? Have you figured out how you can leverage your current situation to make lemonade or are you still wallowing in disbelief? Now is not the time to give up. The dark days will pass and you need to be ready to accelerate back into action. Not everyone’s plan is the same. Some may hunker down and minimize spending, others might be able to land a part-time job to help fill the income gap. The struggle is real. I’m freaking out about my 401K while I know others may be freaking out about having enough money to pay the rent or buy food.
I don’t have an answer for everyone, or anyone. Heck, I’m not sure if I’ve found the answer for me. But what I do know is that those who look for something good from this situation will be better off than those who keep wallowing in despair. Think about what you can do over the next few weeks to hang on, help others or reinvent yourself and then Go Make some Lemonade!
