How a Leader Resouce Group Can Strengthen Your Workplace Culture

A great way to provide leaders with the skills and tools they need to foster a more equitable and inclusive work environment is by launching a Leader Resource Group.  A Leader Resource Group (LRG) is a self led group that engages company leaders in learning activities and discussions. It combines best practices in adult learning with the proven infrastructure of Employee Resource Groups. The goal of an LRG is to help strengthen a leader’s ability to foster an inclusive and engaged workplace and to provide them with skills and tools to deliver sustainable results that align with their organizational mission, values and goals.

Monthly 2-hr LRG events provide an interactive learning environment and establishes a network of people who can share common experiences. The approach increases knowledge retention, makes learning seem easier, is more cost effective than traditional training and provides the added benefit of strengthening teamwork among company leaders. It’s a low-cost approach and most LRGs can be launched using existing company resources. Best of all, an LRG exposes leaders to topics that are relevant, timely and critical to success such as:

  • Decision-making tools for fairness and equity
  • Overcoming bias in decisions
  • Equity in employee development
  • Actions that build trust
  • Tools that strengthening inclusion
  • Respect, value and appreciation
  • Communicating with purpose
  • Leading effective change

By participating in a Leader Resource Group, leaders learn new skills and tools that help them foster a work environment where everyone feels valued, respected and heard.  And that’s the first step to real change. Because if nothing changes, nothing changes.
